About me
I have always been driven by an insatiable curiosity about how things work. While some started with video games, my entry into the digital world was driven by a desire to be useful and to create. As early as 2019, I began providing IT assistance to the elderly in Calvados. What started as a helping hand turned into a true vocation: using technology to solve concrete problems.
This desire to go further pushed me to become not just a user, but a creator. Alongside a rigorous academic path—marked by a Baccalauréat with Highest Honors (Mention Très Bien) and a 3rd academic place in the Mathematics Olympiad—I dove headfirst into code.
The Android Revelation 🤖
In 2020, I founded Evanescent Apps, my own structure to publish my creations. I taught myself mobile development, a universe that captivated me immediately.
One of my first major successes was the Mathoo app, which now counts over 5000 downloads. Seeing thousands of people use a tool I coded from A to Z was a turning point. But I wanted to measure myself against the best.
In 2021, I participated in the Android Dev Challenge. The challenge? To use Jetpack Compose, Google’s new toolkit for UI. I had the honor of being among the 500 global winners. This recognition validated my skills in Kotlin and Java and encouraged me to pursue engineering.
Engineer of Tomorrow: Télécom SudParis 🎓
Today, I am a student-engineer at Télécom SudParis (Institut Polytechnique de Paris), with a degree expected in 2026. My training as a generalist digital engineer allows me to consolidate my technical foundations while exploring new horizons such as Artificial Intelligence (PyTorch, ML/LLMs) and cybersecurity.
But school life isn’t limited to classes. I am deeply involved in community life because I believe technology should also serve to bring people together:
- Digital & Networks: As Treasurer of MiNET (the student ISP) and Digital Manager of the BDE (Student Council), I manage critical infrastructures for campus life.
- Cybersecurity: I am an active member of Hackadem’INT, where we explore vulnerabilities and offensive security.
The Austrian Adventure 🇦🇹
Winter 2025 marked a turning point in my journey with an Erasmus semester at the Technische Universität Wien (TU Wien) in Vienna, Austria.
There, I took advanced courses in Software Engineering, AI, and sustainability. It was also an opportunity to perfect my German (B2+ level) and discover another European culture. Vienna offered me a new perspective on technology: greener, more thoughtful, and resolutely turned towards the future.
Professional Experience and Fieldwork 🛠️
Beyond personal projects, I have had the chance to apply my skills in the industrial world. During my engineering internship at Calip Group in Normandy in the summer of 2023, I touched on the reality of corporate cybersecurity:
- Active Directory security audit.
- Network mapping (nmap) and compliance management for demanding clients like Thales or Safran.
I also worked as an IT specialist for the Mairie de Moult (Town Hall) in 2022, where I trained employees and maintained the IT fleet. These experiences taught me rigor and the importance of the human factor in IT.
Sport, Adrenaline, and Organization 🏃♂️
I don’t spend all my time behind a screen. Sport is essential to my balance. I am currently the President of the XTreme Sports Club at school.
My biggest organizational challenge? The Bike&Run 2025 race. Organizing a sporting event requires the same qualities as software development: planning, team management, and the ability to react to the unexpected. It is this energy that I put into everything I undertake.
What’s Next? 🚀
My goal is to continue merging mobile development and innovation, perhaps by integrating more AI into my future Android applications using Tensorflow or PyTorch. I remain curious, creative, and always open to new opportunities.
You can find my open-source projects on my GitHub or contact me directly to discuss tech, sports, or innovative projects.
I am Evan Cocain, and thank you for reading my story.
